Secure, efficient compute and storage for the workloads above.
IBM LinuxONE
IBM's enterprise Linux server, built on the same engineering as IBM Z. It is designed to run many Linux workloads on one system with very high availability and strong security.
Key ideas
Workload consolidation: many servers' worth of Linux on one machine, which cuts floor space and energy
Confidential computing: data stays protected even while it is being processed
Quantum safe cryptography for long lived sensitive data
On chip AI acceleration for low latency scoring next to transactional data
IBM's mainframe platform, where many of the world's banks, insurers and governments run core transactions. Its data is increasingly fed into analytics and AI platforms.
Key ideas
Db2 for z/OS holds high value transactional records
Data Gate replicates mainframe tables into cloud lakehouses so they can feed analytics and AI without touching the core system
Software defined storage that pools many servers' disks into one scalable system for object, block and file data. It is a common home for the large datasets AI needs.
Key ideas
Object storage that scales out by adding nodes
The Ceph Provisioner automates installing and expanding clusters on certified IBM Storage Ready Nodes
One consistent way to run containers on premises and in any cloud.
Red Hat OpenShift
Red Hat's Kubernetes platform. It packages applications as containers and runs them the same way in a data center, at the edge or on any major cloud, which is why most of IBM's software installs on it.
Key ideas
Operators install and upgrade complex software automatically
Control plane versus data plane: the part that manages the system is separate from the part that does the work
The same deployment can move between on premises and cloud with little change
How Avid uses it
AvidRAG, the retrieval engine behind GovPulse.io and VerdantaIQ, runs on Red Hat OpenShift.
Connecting applications, data and partners, and governing the APIs between them.
IBM API Connect
A platform for the full life of an API: design it, publish it, secure it, and let developers discover and use it through a portal. Part of IBM Cloud Pak for Integration.
Key ideas
Four jobs: create, manage, secure and socialize APIs
GraphQL composition can stitch several data sources into one API
API management becomes core infrastructure once AI agents start calling business systems
Cloud Pak for IntegrationAPI gatewayDeveloper portalGraphQL
Integration software that moves and transforms data between applications, databases and SaaS tools, with both low code and developer tooling. App Connect Enterprise is the version teams run themselves.
Key ideas
Message flow design has the biggest effect on integration performance
Supports REST services, databases and messaging in one flow
Storing and serving data, building and running models, and keeping AI accountable.
IBM watsonx.data
An open data lakehouse. It keeps data in open table formats on low cost object storage and lets several query engines work on the same copy, so analytics and AI can share one governed source.
Key ideas
Open table formats such as Apache Iceberg
Multiple engines, such as Presto and Spark, query the same data
Separate network controls for managing the lakehouse and for reading its data
Data integration tools move and replicate data into the lakehouse
IBM's studio for building, tuning and running AI, from classic machine learning to generative AI and agents. It runs as a cloud service or on IBM Software Hub in a company's own environment.
Key ideas
Prompt Lab for working with foundation models, including IBM Granite and open models
Tuning methods such as LoRA adapt a model to a task without retraining it from scratch
AutoAI and AutoAI RAG search for the best model or retrieval pipeline automatically
Agent Lab builds agents that can use tools and ground answers in documents
Deployment spaces move a model from experiment to a production endpoint
How Avid uses it
VerdantaIQ integrates watsonx.ai together with IBM Maximo and watsonx Orchestrate.
Tools for keeping AI accountable: tracking every model and prompt in a use case inventory, evaluating quality, fairness and drift, and managing risk and compliance.
Key ideas
Factsheets record how each model or prompt was built and evaluated
Monitors watch deployed models for quality, bias and drift
A governance console connects AI risk to the wider compliance program
Evaluation metrics can be streamed to observability tools
Putting AI and bots to work, and keeping IT running.
IBM watsonx Orchestrate
A platform for building, running and governing AI agents that do real work across business systems such as HR, sales and procurement. It coordinates many agents so they do not become an unmanaged sprawl.
Key ideas
Three kinds of agents: prebuilt, custom built, and multiple agents orchestrated together
Agent Builder and the Agent Development Kit for creating agents
An Agent Catalog where partners publish agents, through the Agent Connect program
AgentOps for monitoring and governing agents in production
RAG grounds agents in company knowledge
How Avid uses it
GovPulse.io is listed in the IBM Cloud Catalog through the Agent Connect program, and VerdantaIQ uses watsonx Orchestrate.
AI for IT operations. It pulls in alerts, logs and topology from across the IT toolchain, groups related events into incidents, and helps teams find the cause and fix it faster.
Key ideas
Correlates many alerts into a single incident
Explainable AI shows why it suggests a probable cause
Integrates with ticketing tools such as Jira and ServiceNow
Purpose built software for assets, engineering and security operations.
IBM Maximo Application Suite
Enterprise asset management. Maximo tracks physical assets such as pumps, vehicles and aircraft, schedules their maintenance, and uses monitoring and AI to predict failures before they happen.
Key ideas
Maximo Manage handles asset records, work orders and maintenance workflows
Industry solutions extend it, for example Maximo for Aviation
Runs on Red Hat OpenShift, customer managed or as a service
How Avid uses it
VerdantaIQ treats farm equipment and irrigation infrastructure as Maximo assets. Our IBM TechXchange 2026 session showed it with documented 58 percent water reduction and 23 percent yield improvement.
Tools for engineering complex products such as vehicles and medical devices: managing requirements, work items, tests and their links so teams can trace every change.
Key ideas
DOORS Next for requirements, Engineering Workflow Management for work, Engineering Test Management for tests
Jazz Team Server is the foundation the tools share
OSLC links data between tools, and Integration Hub synchronizes with tools such as Jira
Security orchestration, automation and response. It turns an organization's incident response plans into playbooks so security teams respond to threats consistently and quickly.
Key ideas
Playbooks combine tasks, workflows, scripts and rules for each incident type
App Hosts run integrations with other security tools
A managed service provider edition serves many client organizations from one platform
What Avid Solutions International builds on top of the stack.
AvidRAG
Avid's nine level agentic retrieval augmented generation architecture, running on Red Hat OpenShift. It grounds AI answers in trusted documents and is the engine under our products.
Key ideas
Retrieval keeps answers tied to sources
Agentic steps plan, retrieve and check before answering
